Foothills Smogged In

Caroline was feeling a little homesick after being away at school for the first time (her freshman year), so we drove a care package up to her. Just some stuff to remind her of home -- and of course we brought her best friend along as a surprise. As we approached the foothills (off in the not too distant smog bank), we could hardly see them due to the heavy smog. People up here have to breathe this stuff every day. Hopefully Caroline can graduate with her lungs intact.

Padres Scavenger Hunt

Today my photo club went to PetCo park to watch the Padres play -- and to have one of our photo scavenger hunts. These are always fun themselves, but today was extra special because we also got to see Trevor Hoffman set the all-time saves record. Of course this means a Pads win too, naturally. All in all, a very great day.

Padres vs Reds w/Chicken

I guess I need to look at the promo schedule more often or just always bring a decent camera. When we got to the game not only was there a great sunset, but the San Diego Chicken was at the game -- a very rare treat. Alas, all I had with me was my Nikon pocket point and shoot camera. I managed to get a few photos that didn't suck entirely. I really envy those that can get good shots with these crummy cameras. I have to depend on the crutch of a good camera to make up for my shortcomings. Anyway, besides the sunset and the chicken, the Pads played the Reds and won 7-1. It was a great game. Too bad I didn't have a great camera with me.

Caroline's First Days at Azusa Pacific

This weekend was "move-in" time at Azusa Pacific University. There were things for both freshmen and parents of freshmen. This collection of photos were a few I took. There were several "classes", "presentations" or other "information meetings" of which I didn't take any photographs.

Overall, I think the orientation for the incoming freshmen is valuable, but for the parents -- not so much. We had already OK'd and paid for this school and it seems like they were still trying to sell us on the school.
